The resort is the main location where the player will spend the most time. Its view will serve as a trademark not only for visitors, but also for real players, who will consider what the game is about and whether it is worth buying. That’s why this model required special care and the best possible plan.
Hence, the project featured concept art of minor elements, not just the whole structure as such.
The preliminary drawing of the entire building still didn’t mark the end of the adventure, but rather the middle of it. Such sketches have something about them that on the one hand make you think “good enough,” but when you think longer, you realize how much more can be done. An experienced graphic designer sees what isn’t there, but could be. That’s why they decide how something should look in the game.
Only by seeing several versions side by side make someone less knowledgeable realize how many strategies can be adopted and how many small details can add personality to our work.
